The purpose of the Shelby Karate Club, Inc. is to provide quality martial arts training at a reasonable price to its students; provide expert instruction in TaeKwonDo, karate, jang bong, nunchaku, and Kumdo; and provide students with the opportunity to purchase related merchandise. The school has been in business since January 1984 and it became a corporation in May of 1985. Shelby Karate Club, Inc. is presently located at 301 North Vine Street, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.

Master Jacobs began his training in the art of TaeKwonDo in January of 1978. He earned his first degree black belt in February 1980. In January 1984 the Shelby Karate Club was founded and has been in business ever since. Master Jacobs has continued to be a leader, teacher and innovator in the martial arts. He has trained hundreds of students in the Shelby and surrounding county area. He has also made several black belts and numerous karate champions at different levels. From competition at all levels to the local county fair talent show, Shelby Karate Club offers something for everyone. Master Jacobs has also volunteered his time at the local Boys' Club since 1994 offering boys and girls the opportunity to experience the basics of TaeKwonDo free of charge. From his teaching almost every class, to tournaments, weapons and Kumdo the Shelby Karate Club has something for everyone.
