21st Century Knowledge & Skills
Social-Emotional-Physical Wellness
Global Citizenship
About Us:
Somers is a suburban community located in Westchester County about 45 miles north of New York City. It is home to some of the finest schools in New York State. Throughout the years, our partners in education have consistently included a strong community of support for quality education with emphasis on the development of the whole child. Our unique campuses of over 70 acres are an indelible mark in Somers and help us bridge our K-12 curriculum seamlessly.
Four public schools serve Somers students in grades K-12:
At Primrose Elementary School, “A Place of Great Beginnings,” K-2 students construct knowledge building a strong foundation in reading, writing and mathematics.
Somers Intermediate School students, grades 3-5, expand their knowledge and skills in core curriculum areas and continue to explore the world around them through the study of Science and Social Studies.
Somers Middle School offers a strong educational program tailored to the specific needs of middle level students. The Middle School model promotes personalized learning and combines whole class skills instruction with small group and individualized instruction to meet students’ needs.
Somers High School is an International Baccalaureate School and offers the Diploma Programme for students. Students are ensured a rigorous college preparatory course of study, engaging in strong programs in art, music, technology, family and consumer science, special education, and occupational education. Approximately 93% of our graduates go on to post-secondary education.
Our district will continue to offer a curriculum that provides students with a voice in their learning and the best opportunities to demonstrate growth and achievement. The programs and instructional methodology are designed to meet the needs of varied learners, focusing on knowledge and skills necessary to solve problems, think critically and creatively, and work collaboratively and cooperatively with others. Global citizenship and social, emotional and physical wellness, combined with 21st-century knowledge and skills, round out our vision of success for the whole child.
