In May of 1956 the society became a member of the Bay State Historical League. An official seal was accepted in the spring of 1959. Its artist-designer was Allison Macomber. Mrs. Charles Mosher was curator during the early years of the society and actually operated out of two beautiful trunks. One held baby and children's clothing from her own family. For some reason, artifacts were not donated, volunteers were few, and there was no financial aid. The faithful carried on until 1968 when it was decided to discontinue monthly meetings. Then, in 1974, Mrs. Howard Pierce and Charles Doucette decided to reorganize. Now the historical society is housed in the former Village School.
