St. Joan of Arc Council was founded in 1980 through the efforts of several local men, of whom only PGK Dominic Giuliano, Fred Boelzner and PGK Norm Lambert remain. It is named after St. Joan of Arc Church, which was the parish church of the founding members until its tragic destruction by fire in May 2000. The membership also includes parishioners from St. Katharine Drexel Church in Wolfeboro and St. Paul’s Church in Barnstead. St. Joan of Arc Council works closely with St Katharine Drexel Parish in Alton, providing funds for memorials, CCD programs, college scholarships for local Catholic students, and many special events such as dinners, tournaments, and communion breakfasts. Members of the council have served the surrounding parishes as church ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and even organists and cantors.
