St. Mark's is one of the largest ELCA congregations in the Washington DC Metro area.  It's close proximity to I-95, I-395 and the Beltway makes it a convenient church home to many people in the Northern Virginia area.  

Music is central to St. Mark's worship and fellowship.  We have music opportunities for all ages.  There are the Chancel Choir, a bell choir, and  children's choirs.  Many professional musicians have joined St. Mark's who willingly share their talent for Sunday morning worship.  

As the Springfield area has become more diverse, St. Mark's has responded with many programs to encourage the newcomers to grow and thrive in our country.  We have a strong ESL program that is run by volunteers.  You do not need to speak another language to help in this program and new volunteers are always needed.  During the summer St. Mark's sponsors Summer Neighborhood Play Groups.  Youngsters who live near the church are encouraged to come play a game of soccer or other games and enjoy a snack with members of our church.  Our church is a meeting place for other groups in Northern Virginia such as Boys Scouts, AA/AL, and an interesting group called the Sunflower Group in which young Japanese families meet to teach their children the old traditions and culture of Japan.

As you see, not only is St. Mark's a beautiful place to worship, it is a congregation that cares for each other and our neighbors.
