About Us:

The Statesboro Regional Library is a group of five-county southeast Georgia public libraries, serving a population of 131,465 in Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Emanuel and Evans Counties. Statesboro is the home of Georgia Southern University and is located about 55 miles west from Savannah. The FY2005 Library System budget was $1.5 million and the combined collections contain over 182,000 volumes. There is a great deal of interest and support for genealogy and local history and all of the libraries boast a full range of books, videos, CDs and DVDs along with reference and reader’s advisory services, adult and children’s programming, and Internet access. The Reading is FUNdamental (RIF) program is provided for young readers and literacy tutoring is offered to adults. Each library has a “Community Room” which provides a fine place for citizens to gather and local artists to display their work.

Library System administration is located at Statesboro-Bulloch County Library, a 31,000 square-foot facility in downtown Statesboro. The Georgia PINES System links all the member libraries together with 252 libraries across the state (with more to come!). All libraries provide public Internet access made possible through Georgia Public Library Services.

The System-wide staff of about forty-five dedicated employees includes six state funded librarians who provide direct services to the public and consultant services to all SRLS libraries. The Regional Library Director, Business Services, and Technical Services Departments also have system-wide responsibilities. A Regional Library Board of Trustees governs the entire library system, and is made up of two members from each local county library board.

The Statesboro Regional Library System is a people-oriented organization striving to meet the needs of a growing community. Staff members work together in a team environment to provide quality and user-friendly service.
