STITCH, Standing Together In
Tolerance Changing Humanity, is a non-profit organization based out of NW
Indiana focused on ensuring a safe place for all GLBTQ persons and allies. Established
in 2008, STITCH envisions a future of acceptance and respect for all
individuals regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
STITCH seeks to develop programs and events to educate communities, schools, and
people on social issues for the commonwealth of all individuals. The ultimate
goal is to is to provide a positive contribution by providing resources,
support, and programs to reduce risk factors and raise protective factors in
the area of suicide prevention among GLBTQ youth.
STITCH is dedicated to provide a safe inclusive space for all individuals free of judgment and ridicule. In our meetings and through our events, people are encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas, and stories to provide encouragement and support.Through listening and sharing, we can learn about people. Listening and sharing therefore are the core of STITCH.
We meet the second Wednesday of every month at the First Unitarian Church of Hobart on 5th and Main at 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Suicide Prevention, Coming Out, HIV/AIDS, Transgender, Homelessness, and Bullying servies are provided.
