115 King's Creek Circle, Rehoboth Delaware 19971
301-683-9039
It all began about seven years ago. On a whim, King's Creek next door neighbors, Steve Storrie and Betsi and Jimmy Fakler, organized a mid summer golf outing and party for family and friends. The event was so well received and attended that the neighbors decided on a repeat performance this time for charity.
Summer after summer, more golfers participated, more party goers showed up and more funds were raised. Last year, over $26,000 went to the family of 10-year old liver transplant patient, Caroline Wheeler. This year, we are hoping to break our own record in terms of raising funds and fun.
This year proceeds from the much-anticipated golf and social event will go to benefit the new Fisher House at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware; a comfort home for the families of our fallen military men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
As is tradition, a day of golf will segue into an evening under the stars to bid, socialize, eat, drink and dance to the sounds of the talented Steve Ports trio.
Last year's event drew well over 80 golfers and 200+ party guests, raising over $26,000 to benefit 10-year old liver transplant recipient, Caroline Wheeler. The goal of this year's event is to break 2009's record-making donation by $10,000, aiming for a total exceeding $36,000.
Heartfelt thanks go out to the private citizens and local merchants who donated auction and raffle items last year, including tickets to the Masters, luxury lodgings, bay cruises, dining gift certificates, food, drink, volunteer services, and more.
"We certainly hope just as many generous people come forward to donate this year," states Steve Storrie. "I look forward to seeing old faces and new faces at this year's event."
Hosts and organizers, Steve Storrie and Betsi Fakler decided this year's event should benefit the Fisher House, a new home that hosts the families of fallen military men and women. "We thought long and hard about who or what to benefit," states Betsi Fakler. "This decision feels right. Our community is in total support."
The King's Creek Country Club is now scheduling tee times. If you would like to participate, please call The Pro Shop, at 302-227-8953.
