Sudbury Pop Warner Football Cheerleading

As a general rule, football and cheering practices and games are held in various types of inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold and snow. Practicing and playing football in inclement or cold weather is typical. Cancellations due to bad weather are the exception, not the rule.
A football or cheering practice or games may be postponed or cancelled due to very heavy rain or snow or excessive cold conditions, or for any rain, snow or cold event that puts a child or coach at risk.
A football or cheering practice or game will be postponed or cancelled if lightening is seen or if persistent vigorous thunder is heard in the immediate area of the field. If lightening is seen or thunder is heard miles away in the distance, the on field SPW league president, commissioners and or head coaches will monitor the situation and make the decision to postpone or cancel the event if the storm gets within a distance deemed unsafe for the children or coaches. This unsafe distance will be defined as 30 seconds or less between a visible lightening strike in the distance and the following thunder clap.
If a practice or game is postponed or cancelled, all SPW participants (children and adults) should leave the field area and seek acceptable shelter.
It is a parent or guardians' responsibility to monitor inclement weather conditions during practices and/or games, and they should be available to pick up their child in the event of a practice or game cancellation
