Mission

The Summit Land Conservancy works in partnership with local landowners to permanently protect the remaining agricultural lands, view sheds, animal habitats, waterways, and rangelands in Summit County, Utah.

Vision

• The forests and hillsides, rivers and mountains of Summit County remain open and undisturbed habitat for elk, moose, mountain bluebirds, sand hill cranes, bald eagles and varieties of trout, along with the native plants that support them.
• The Weber River is a thriving watershed and ecosystem that connects the communities of the county, with a healthy fishery and access along its banks for families, anglers, boaters, and wildlife.  Farmlands will border the river corridor, providing a natural buffer from housing and other development.
• Summit County's agriculturalists have sustainable farms and ranches that support the economy while providing a living and promoting the healthy use of natural resources.
• The ski resorts of western Summit County are successful in part because visitors enjoy protected lands that provide the wide vistas the west is famous for as well as opportunities to view wildlife and pursue other forms of recreation, such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, hiking and mountain biking.

Values

The Summit Land Conservancy is an ethical, community-centered organization that values people and the natural environment.  Its board, staff, and volunteers are active members of the community.  They are respected for their service to local land conservation.  The Conservancy is a member of the broader land trust community and adheres to the highest standards.
