About the Susanville Symphony
Although residents of Lassen County have always enjoyed the scenic beauty and recreational gifts of our area, they had never experienced a homegrown orchestra performing classical music until the spring of 2003. A group of 25 local musicians were assembled, and rehearsed for 3 months prior to that first performance under the guidance of Benjamin Wade. The concert was performed to a sold out crowd at the local United Methodist Church.
Community response was so overwhelming that the concept of the Susanville Symphony Society was born. Beginning with that first concert, the excitement and energy of our small community has sustained a dream of many of our local musicians. Audiences have grown from 175 patrons enjoying that first performance to a sold out crowd of 900 per performance. Season tickets, tiered memberships, and business sponsorships have supported the organization and grown in number each season.
The Susanville Symphony Society recognizes the importance of providing our community with the most interesting and diverse programs covering a variety of music for each concert.
