The Church at Spruce Creek has a new building but a long history. Our roots go back as far as 200 years when the church was founded by Ellas Smith. Smith felt that the seacoast region needed another church that would teach the truth of God's word and founded a church to do just that.
For many years, our fellowship went by the name of Court Street Christian Church In Portsmouth, in the mid-1950s, the church moved Its place of worship from Court Street to Middle Street and was renamed Central Baptist Church.
In 1999, the Lord provided a new home for us that Is more famlly-frlendly than our former downtown location, when we moved away from central Portsmouth, we adopted a new name, The Church at Spruce Creek.
