Massapequa Park is one of 64 incorporated villages in Nassau County. It is the thirteenth largest village of the 557 in New York State and is larger than 27 of the state's 62 cities. The Village is in the Third U.S. Congressional District. For the state legislature, the Village is in the 12th Assembly District and the Eighth Senatorial District.

The Village has unique programs and park facilities. There are annual celebrations such as the Memorial Day parade, the Independence Day weekend festival, and the December holiday programs. There are fairs and other special programs at different times of the year, all of which create an ambiance conducive to a close community spirit.
