The Mental Health Association of Westchester County, Inc. (MHA), founded in 1946, is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting mental health through advocacy, community education and direct services.

In accordance with our values, we use Best Practice Models whenever possible in our service delivery and utilize a Strengths Based Approach which focuses on a person’s abilities, aptitudes, talents and supports as opposed to concentrating only on deficiencies.

Tremendous advances have been made in the treatment of mental illness in the last decade. We strive for:

Our services reflect a comprehensive, flexible and individualized approach for adults, families, and youngsters - addressing mental health needs through support, rehabilitation and treatment. In addition to our agency-based programs, we continue our decades-long tradition of reaching out to families and individuals by providing services in their homes, nursing homes, homeless shelters and other community sites. We are determined to ensure that everyone who needs help has equal access to mental health services. Over 70% of the people we serve are from low-income, working families who have inadequate or no mental health coverage.
