The Winchester Unitarian Society

478 Main Street

Unitarian-Universalism traces its religious roots back to the early days of the Reformation and is a direct descendant of the early New England Puritans. Like our religious ancestors we remain committed to the idea that our religious life should and must be reflected in our care and treatment of neighbor, stranger, and friend. We hold that religion and spirituality are very much about who we are and how we live right here and right now. Throughout our history Unitarian Universalists have believed in a God that is too big and too loving to be contained within the writings and teachings of any one book, nation, or religion and so have sought to deepen our own sense of the divine through a respectful consideration of the wisdom gleaned from all spiritual seekers, artists, poets, scientists, and laborers throughout time.

The Winchester Unitarian Society was founded in 1865, and since that time has been a place to explore religious questions, join in fellowship, receive support in efforts to improve upon oneself, and unite with others seeking to make our world a more just and equitable place to live. We are a vibrant community of faith offering people of all ages opportunities to nurture their spirits through worship, fellowship, education, and service. As a Welcoming Congregation, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people who have all too often been barred from full participation in religious communities
