About The Town Of Lamoine
The Town of Lamoine Maine was incorporated in 1870. It is located in Hancock County, bordered on the North by City of Ellsworth, the County Seat, on the East by theTown of Hancock, on the West by the Town of Trenton, and to the South by Frenchman Bay and the Town of Bar Harbor.
The town operates under a Town Meeting/Board of Selectmen/Administrative Assistant form of government. There are three elected bodies in town - the Selectmen, the School Committee, and the Board of Assessors. The rest of the town personnel are appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The Annual Town Meeting usually occurs the first Tuesday and Wednesday in March. Town officials are elected on Tuesday, and the business portion of the town meeting takes place on Wednesday Evening.
Lamoine is home to Lamoine State Park and Lamoine Beach Park which are somewhat lesser known but beautiful tourist destinations. There is very little retail business in Lamoine, but there is a very active gravel and a small boat building industry. Lamoine's citizens invite you to visit our town.
