About Us
Twin Hills Golf Course is owned and operated by the Hill Family. It is a Public 18 hole course located in Spencerport, New York. Twin Hills was built in 1969 by the twins, Warren and Russel Hill. The course takes their name and opened in 1970. The land on which the course sits was part of Moncony Farms, farmed by the Hill family since the mid-1800's. The twins were prominent Holstein dairy cow breeders and also grew cherries, peaches, and apples.
Pete Craig, designer of many of Rochester's great golf courses hunted here in the 60's when part of the farm was a registered Game Farm, raising pheasants. Pete told Warren and Russel that they had a wonderful piece of property for a golf course if they ever tired of farming. An idea was hatched even though neither twin had ever golfed. Their years of farming experience gave them the necessary know-how to handle the projec
In March of 1969, the cherry and peach orchards were bulldozed out and clearing started for Twin Hills Golf Course. Two crews worked much of the year and the following spring to make a dream come true. Pete's crew built tees and greens and installed irrigation pipe. The Hill families finished fairways and roughs, planted trees, and completed drainage work. The course opened July 20, 1970.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course now plays to 6460 yards. Not long for this era, but getting to the green is only part of the story. The greens are big, undulated and are very tricky. You can be looking at a 90 foot putt on a few of the greens. Hole # 5 is the signature hole. It is a par 3 with lots of water to make it interesting. It's perennially on Rochester's Best Holes list, think " A River Runs Through It", and plays from 100 to 200 yards depending on tee and pin placement. #5 is part of what the locals call " Death Valley", 3,4,5, and 6; be straight or you are doomed, but lots of fun if you make the shots. The rest of the course is a mix of hardwoods, ponds, creeks, and very scenic rolling terrain. You will have fun.
Our Logo honors the twins. We hope that Twin Hills will endure and that as we take pride in our accomplishments, we can, with our love of the land, maintain a tradition of serving the golfing public well...................The Hill family.
