The purpose of United Congregational Church is to worship God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Communion, to realize Christian Fellowship and unity within this church and the church universal, to render loving service towards human kind and to strive to righteousness, justice and peace.
The United Congregational Church has chosen Matthew 5: 14 - 16 for its theme, "You are the world's light-a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Don't hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father." We let our light shine for God's glory by serving dinner at the local Soup Kitchen, making prayer quilts and prayer shawls for hospice patients and shut-ins, sponsoring our youth in the Read-to-Feed Program for Heifer Project International, supporting the mission programs of the United Church of Christ and donating 5% of all fund raisers to The Susan B. Anthony Project, Silver Lake Conference Center and the Heifer Project International. We regularly collect food for FISH. At Christmas we have an angel tree where church members select the name of an underprivileged child and buy Christmas gifts for the child. At Easter, we donate gift cards for groceries, telephone calls, gasoline, etc. for the Susan B. Anthony project. We strive to glorfy the Lord in our words and deeds locally and globally.
You are welcome to visit and join our church family where we let our light shine for God's glory through our worship and our service to our sisters and brothers in the local community and throughout the world.
