Located in Maine's largest city, the Portland campus offers easy access to the city's bustling arts district, cultural activities, and waterfront. The Glickman Family Library, Woodbury Campus Center, Sullivan Recreation and Fitness Complex, Abromson Community Education Center, and classrooms are in Portland.

The University of Southern Maine serves its 10,000 plus students from its two southern Maine campuses in Portland and nearby Gorham. The southern Maine region, cited as one of the most liveable in the country, offers a range of educational, cultural and recreational opportunities. Convenient, eco-friendly shuttle buses connect these two campuses. USM also has a campus in Lewiston-Auburn.
