The collective commitment of Brown Elementary School, as a professional learning community, is to ensure that every child attains academic proficiency and full social personal potential.
Named after noted Turlock City Clerk and US Postal Worker, Walter M. Brown was opened in 1983 to a burgeoning population. With the increased growth of the northwest part of town, Brown was the first to go to a year round, multi-track schedule in 1988, a practice that remains in effect today.
Serving a population of 745 students, we currently have a Principal, Assistant Principal, 33 classroom teachers, 1 Reading Specialist, 1 Resource Specialist Teachers, 3 Special Day Class teacher and a Speech Therapist. Support for students and teaching staff is provided by 7 paraprofessionals, 1 librarian, 5 playground supervisors, 1 custodian, 1 health tech and 3 office secretaries.
Enjoying a close proximity to California State University, Stanislaus, our school has been able to develop a partnership with many of their outstanding departments. Collaborations have included student teachers and tutors from the School of Education, presentations by the University Police and performances by the Drama Department.
