The Wantagh Fire Department has approximately 225 members using 18 pieces of fire apparatus. The department answers an average of 1,800 alarms annually in affording fire protection and emergency medical services to the approximately 17,000 homes and 65,000 residents of the fire district, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
