Waples Mill Elementary School is a community that nurtures students and encourages them to set high expectations for academic achievement and develop lifelong skills for learning. The school includes programs for students in kindergarten through grade six. We also have special programs for preschool students with disabilities aged two through five and for students with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or moderate to severe disabilities. Inclusion promotes sensitivity among staff , students, and community members regarding the unique needs and intrinsic worth of children with a variety of physical and intellectual abilities.
Students, parents, and faculty work hand in hand to build an environment that facilitates academic achievement, appreciation for the arts and humanities, and respect for one's self and others. The basic core subjects are enhanced with technology integration, programs in the arts, and community resources.
Technology is an exciting dimension of the instructional program. Technology use supports student excellence in academic areas while enhancing creative, critical, and logical thinking skills, as well as generating excitement for learning. Collaborative decision making is promoted between faculty, parents, and students to foster open communication and trust. Learning at Waples Mill is enhanced by a devoted PTA and a tireless group of parent volunteers.
