Wauconda Lions Club

200 South Maple Avenue

About Us:

The Wauconda Lions Club is a member club of Lions International, one of the worlds oldest and largest service organizations, with over 1.35 million members in over 46,000 Clubs in 207 countries. The first Lions Club was founded in 1917 in Chicago. In 1922, Helen Keller addressed one of the growing organization's first conventions, and challenged us to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Since then, we have worked tirelessly to aid the blind and visually impaired.

Mission:

Locally, the Wauconda Lions have gone far beyond simply being "knights of the blind," serving a broader mission of bettering our community. We were instrumental in providing the first streetlights on Main St., and the Village's first police car. We provide annual scholarships to deserving WHS students. And we of course continue to help those with vision and hearing needs.
