Speak - and demonstrate the Word of God.
Spread - the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Our History
Westchester Family Church was birthed during a special season of prayer during the fall of 2000. Pastor Douglas Mitchell and his wife, Christine, had been traveling as itinerating ministers for four years, but both realized that they were nearing a crossroads. They knew the Lord had something more for them, and they wanted to know what was to be their next step.
One particular night the Lord spoke to Pastor Doug, telling him to plant a church in Westchester County, NY, and that it was to be a regional church. He also said that it would be a quick work. When Christine awakened the next morning, she saw her husband sitting in bed with a pad of paper in his hand. She immediately realized that something had happened while she slept and asked what God had said.
From that time forward Pastor Doug and Christine began researching and planning. That season lasted for over a year. They then had two back to back information sessions at the Mount Kisco Holiday Inn after which they began holding a Bible study for all interested.
Westchester Family Church held its inaugural service on Easter Sunday, March 31st 2002, in a local business. The Little Gym would be the church's home until August when it moved to its current location at 27 Radio Circle.
The last five years have certainly brought multi-dimensional growth. Although small in the beginning, Westchester Family Church has become a vibrant body of believers. The church's influence certainly extends past the town of Mount Kisco and Westchester County to the surrounding region and beyond.
With a vision that has not changed, Westchester Family Church continues to surround individuals, families, and the community with the love of God; strengthen believers through teaching, preaching, and the healing power of God; speak and demonstrate the Word of God; and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. The only difference lies in its broadened scope of ministry and the greater number of lives that have been and are being changed.
