School History
Westside Intermediate School, built to accommodate 500 students, at present serves grades 2 through 5 from the western region of Wicomico County. This includes the rural communities of Hebron, Quantico, Bivalve, Nanticoke, Whitehaven, Wetipquin and Waterview. Also included are the growing communities of Nithsdale, Crooked Oak Estates and Hunter's Mill. In addition to these existing communities, several new developments are under construction. At present our school community is among the fastest growing areas in Wicomico County. Students, upon promotion to middle school, attend Mardela Middle School or Salisbury Middle School. In order to serve the academic and personal needs of our children, it is the belief of the personnel of Westside Schools that a favorable climate be established that will foster learning. This climate should be one in which the primary concern is the value placed upon the individual. We must recognize individual worth and dignity and provide educational experiences that allow children to develop to their maximum potential. Recognizing the varied backgrounds, cultures, and life styles of the children we work with, we should provide them with an education that will prepare them to adequately deal with the world of today and tomorrow.
