Our History

The members of the early Christian Church in Williamstown, as elsewhere, were referred to as Campbellites or New Lights, later as Reformers, and finally as Christians.

The first church building that was built on the lot purchased in 1867 was a small, plain, brick structure. In approximately 1910, the building was enlarged, stained glass windows were installed, and a bell tower was added.

Soon after 1920, the 1867 building was razed and the present church constructed. It was finished and dedicated on July 23, 1923. The cost was $30,000.

In 1967, the white frame parsonage near the church was torn down and a new brick parsonage was built on the lot.

In 1991 the new educational wing was constructed. This addition added eight new classrooms and an office area at a cost of $300, 000.

While the history of our church defines the structure, it is the body within that is the life. The footsteps of the past lead us into the future. As we continue to grow, we are confident that we are touching lives for Christ and leaving a legacy of love for those to follow.
