The Winthrop Ice & Sports Rink is an outdoor facility which is Winthrop's social hub for recreation and family fun. The ice rink is a natural, non-refrigerated, uncovered, NHL regulation outdoor ice rink. The facility has skate rentals, public restrooms, concessions, a second-story warming and viewing room and free on-site ping pong tables.
The rink is conveniently located just one block from downtown Winthrop. The ice rink is accessible by foot via the Spring Creek pedestrian bridge or by car with plenty of parking at the Winthrop Town Trailhead.
In the winter months it is used for ice-related sports such as skating, hockey and figure skating classes. This rink was created by the community for the enjoyment of all.
The grounds and facility are owned by the Town of Winthrop and activities are managed by a non profit organization 'The Winthrop Ice & Sport Rink'.
Some safety considerations when you are at the rink.
1. Head injuries are common on hard ice surfaces. Helmets are recommended during open public skate for beginner skaters, encouraged for all skaters, and required for all hockey activities. The rink has a limited supply of free helmet rentals.
2. The rink is outdoors and uncovered with no refrigeration at this time. Natural variables in temperature and precipitation may influence and alter the daily rink schedule and ice conditions.
3. Supervision of minors is a parental responsibility. Please do not drop off and leave children unsupervised.
