The Wittenberger Planetarium has been serving primarily as a public outreach facility since 1969. It is the annual destination of thousands of people throughout the Treasure Valley and for people as far away as central Oregon and central Idaho. Programs are provided to schools and home-school groups, scouts, the public through public shows and astronomy day activities, and to college classes from thoughout the Treasure Valley. We extended our outreach in the early 1990s with the purchase of a portable planetarium that is rented by schools and organizations throughout southwestern and west-central Idaho. Programs include school and home-school field trips, scout trips, public programs, and astronomy day activities, in addition to a laboratory space used by colleges throughout the Treasure Valley.
