The Youth Workforce Center (YWC), funded through the Bucks County Workforce Development Board and in partnership with the PA CareerLink® Bucks County, is staffed by Bucks County Community College to offer free GED classes and Employment Services to Youth ages 16-24. The YWC is conveniently located at the two locations of the PA CareerLink Bucks County in Bristol and Perkasie. In addition to in-person services, the YWC also offers a virtual component: remote enrollment, online GED classes and Employment Services can all be done from your home.
Our highly successful GED program has been operational in Bucks County for more than 20 years. The YWC’s skilled academic instructors utilize a variety of learning tools and techniques to design study programs that fit each participant's individual learning style and needs, helping participants to achieve their goal of obtaining their High School Equivalency (HSE). Throughout the program, students are assessed to ensure their study plans are focused on the particular skills they require. Instructors guide each student through the entire GED prep and testing process to provide guidance and encouragement, and most importantly, to instill confidence. The Youth Workforce Center covers all fees related to the GED, including texts, online resources, study material, and testing fees. In addition to GED classes, the Youth Workforce Center offers Employment Services to qualifying Youth. Job placement assistance, resume writing, interview prep, and other tools are available to give Bucks County Youth the employability skills they need to enhance their career opportunities.
The YWC also provides funding for training programs that can help launch students into a new, high paying career and help to gain an advantage in this uncertain job market. Among the trainings available are Workforce training offered by Bucks County Community College such as Metalworking, Industrial Maintenance, Bookkeeping with Quickbooks Certification, Microsoft Office Technology and Customer Service Specialist, and Pharmacy Tech.
Other free training available includes Medical Assisting, computer-related training and certs, Automotive Technology, CDL-A Driver Training Course, and many more.
