Description:
The Festus Public Library is tax supported by citizens living within the city limits. It is governed by nine board members appointed by the mayor of Festus with approval of the city council. Board members serve voluntarily and receive no pay for doing so. Festus Public Library has been providing a community service since 1934. The library has currently 35,000 titles of books, audio cassettes and videos available. There are over 8,000 patrons at this time.

LIBRARY PROCEDURES :

An application card must be filled out by an adult who must show proof of identity and residency and provide references. Cards will be issued to children when they have completed first grade. Children under 14 years of age must have parent or guardian signatures. When there are several cards issued to members of an individual family, it is suggested that the total number of books checked out at one time would not exceed 25. This will make it possible to circulate books to other patrons if you take only what you can read in a two-week period.
