On Saturday, May 28, as we celebrate Memorial Day in Old Wethersfield, the Old Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association will be hosting an event to “give back to the community” AND to honor the LOCAL men and women who have sacrificed for our country.
Association members will have the opportunity to donate a portion of their total sales or proceeds from a specific item/items sold on that day OR make a flat donation to the Rocky Hill Veteran’s Home “Holiday Funds” This fund provides resources to cover extra costs associated with providing holiday related goods and services to Veteran residents and community based Veterans in need as well as their families to help make the holidays more memorable and enjoyable. (e.g. Secret Santa Program, Holiday luncheons and dinners, gifts for children of veterans in need).
The following is a list of some of the OWSA members who will be donating to this cause-so please make it a point to visit these businesses on Saturday which will be identified by balloons:
Antiques on Main, Heart of the Country, Neill Walsh Goldsmith & Gallery, Old Wethersfield Country Store, Chester Bulkley House B&B and Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, just to name a few.
