I grew up in rural Iowa. My dad was our small-town hospital lab and X-ray technician. At an early age, I would be asked to go to the hospital with him when he would get called back. So whether that was for lab work, X-ray, somebody was coming in through the emergency room, I would get to go along. That's where I first actually got introduced to the PA profession. We actually had a couple of PAs covering the emergency room and I was probably in sixth grade at that time. And that's when I decided that's the route that I wanted to go. I like to try to provide patient options and try to let them make choices. Hopefully, they're making healthy choices. I think through science-based medicine, I'm hoping that I can provide that opportunity for patients to live healthier lives. I've always wanted to live and work in the same community. Getting involved in the community, I think that's going to help build a practice and build confidence with patients.
