Dr. Alexandra Brown is board certified in Family Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed residency in Family Medicine at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center. She is a native New Yorker, but has also lived in France, where she received her Master’s in French Cultural Studies from Columbia University; and in Switzerland, where she worked for the World Health Organization for the Polio Eradication Initiative. Dr. Brown’s passion for primary care developed through an interest in the prevention, as well as the treatment, of disease. She also has special interest in women’s health and providing primary care to the LGBTQ+ population. Dr. Brown enjoys collaborating with patients, their support systems, and specialists, in order to provide effective and individualized treatment plans. In 2020, Dr. Brown received her residency’s patient advocacy award for her work helping her patients obtain excellent medical care. She also loves teaching and works with both Columbia medical students at the student-run Q clinic and with Columbia Family Medicine residents on the inpatient service at the Allen Hospital. Dr. Brown is fluent in French and continues to work on her medical Spanish skills.
