Cary B. Chapman, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. Dr. Chapman specializes in minimally invasive surgical treatments for chronic and acute foot and ankle injuries, ankle arthritis, ankle replacements, bunions, and hammer toe deformities.
Dr. Chapman’s extensive experience includes more than a decade of private and academic medicine in New York City. While on faculty at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, he was the first surgeon in New York State to successfully perform a custom total ankle replacement using innovative 3D printing technology. He also previously served as the chief of foot and ankle surgery at the University of Miami.
As he returns to South Florida, Dr. Chapman brings his passion for training the next generation of orthopedic surgeons. His experience as a clinical assistant professor at the New York University School of Medicine and the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, as well as his involvement in developing questions for orthopedic surgery board examinations, will be beneficial to expanding the educational division of the orthopedic department.
Aside from clinical and direct academic experience, Dr. Chapman continues to do research that has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, including The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery, Cartilage, Orthopedics, Foot & Ankle International, The American Journal of Orthopedics and Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has been honored to present his work at leading regional and national meetings and has been privileged to have lectured and presented his work and share his experience on many orthopedic topics at Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences.
He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society. Some of Dr. Chapman’s awards and accolades include being the recipient of the Castle Connolly New York Metro Area’s Top Doctor Award and the New York Super Doctors Award seven years in a row.
Dr. Chapman’s approach to patient care is to treat each patient as an individual, considering factors such as their lifestyle, age, occupation and expectations when developing a treatment plan. Whenever possible, he first uses nonoperative or conservative treatment methods.
When not treating patients, Dr. Chapman enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and skiing.
