Charles Lawrie, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. Dr. Lawrie specializes in adult hip and knee joint replacement surgery, including hip resurfacing, anterior approach hip replacement, robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacement, and revision joint replacement. He has a particular interest in cementless total knee replacement, total joint replacement in young, active individuals, and the use of technology throughout the episode of care to improve outcomes for hip and knee replacement surgical care.
Dr. Lawrie joined Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute from Washington University School of Medicine, where he served as an assistant professor in the Joint Preservation, Resurfacing and Replacement Division of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is passionate about improving patient experience and outcomes through research, education and clinical excellence.
Dr. Lawrie leads cutting-edge research in his field. He holds a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation. He routinely publishes and presents at national conferences his clinical research on hip and knee arthroplasty. His research has been published in peer-reviewed publications, including The Journal of Arthroplasty, The Bone & Joint Journal, The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery and The Annals of Joint. He also reviews scientific research articles for several medical journals, including the Journal of Arthroplasty, Arthroplasty Today, the Journal of Orthopedic Translation and Annals of Joint.
Dr. Lawrie is actively involved in designing and developing technology and implants for hip and knee replacement to improve patient outcomes. He serves as a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons Digital Health Committee. He is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and The Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Dr. Lawrie is dedicated to patient-centered care. He tries to understand their story as a person, and then their hip and knee problems, the effect it has on their lifestyle and their goals for treatment. Together, Dr. Lawrie and his patients develop a tailored solution to their unique problems and situations to help them achieve their goals for recovery.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Lawrie enjoys spending time with his family and outdoor activities like kiteboarding and cycling.
