A Louisville, Kentucky native, I have joined the UNC midwives after recently practicing as a midwife at a regional medical center in Alamance County. I began my nursing career as a registered nurse in critical-care settings for seven years and was introduced to midwifery practice at the delivery of my first child. Through this empowering experience I made the decision to transition to labor and delivery nursing where I practiced while completing my Masters of Nursing with a concentration in nurse-midwifery from East Carolina University. During my time at ECU I was selected as an APRN Rural Scholar, completing additional education and training focused on the delivery of care to rural and underserved communities. I seek to practice from a trauma-informed framework, acknowledging and respecting the complex backgrounds of all patients. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, reading and being outdoors.
