Most Memorial Day ceremonies are held at cemeteries where the fallen veterans are interred. Both of Altoona's cemeteries do not have a dedicated military memorial for the "unknown" soldier. A few years ago, a civic minded veteran named Doug Teuber, worked with the City of Altoona and put together a very good me-morial place for remembering all branches of military service men and women from the civil war through Viet Nam and into the Iraq-Afghanistan war.
