Told through a frame of intense personal tragedy, Camelot is deceptively romantic while packing a politically relevant punch. Magpie capitalizes on this potent balance by delving deeper into the source material, discovering more legends and figures that speak to us across time. Through our unique devising process, we invite these iconic characters into the room with us, working together to craft a series of experimental new works which will play in repertory with a unique concert version of Camelot. Taking inspiration from legends like The Fisher King and The Lady of Shalott, the Magpie Ensemble explores the rich Arthurian tradition - delving into centuries of subtext and reimagining an ancient canon to tell fresh yet timeless tales that address contemporary issues and speak to modern Queer audiences.
