An acclaimed Japanese contemporary artist provides an exclusive glimpse into the future of bamboo art.
The Asian Art Museum is pleased to welcome artist Hajime Nakatomi (Japanese, b. 1974), winner of the Coffland Grand Prize in the 2024 New Generation Bamboo Art Prizes competition.
To commemorate the exhibition of this year’s prizewinners in the Henri and Tomoye Takahashi Gallery, Nakatomi will travel from Japan to present a special talk about his work. Join us for a rare look at the insights, influences, and process of this accomplished creator of innovative bamboo sculptures and site-specific installations.
