In the first decade of the 19th century, Beethoven emerged from crisis, committed to fulfilling his artistic destiny in the face of deafness. On his new path, he dramatically expanded the scale and depth of his writing. Performing on period instruments, cellist James Wilson, and fortepianist Carsten Schmidt present music from Beethoven's "middle" and "late" periods, when he was at the height of his creative powers. The innovation and romanticism of the legendary composer are showcased in this performance of three famous cello sonatas.
