The show will be held June 5-7 in the Rushmore Hall at The Monument in beautiful downtown Rapid City. This show, sponsored by the Black Hills Quilters Guild.

Quilts
We have over 400 quilts registered for our 2025 show with about 90 quilts to be judged. Many more will be displayed in special exhibits as described below.

Inspiration Studio will display Block of the Month Quilts and Round Robin Challenge quilts
Black Hills Quilters Guild Challenge (open to guild members.) The theme this year is Feathers, Fur, and/or Fins. (More information under Members Menu.)

Special Interest Group Displays
Mona Lisa Challenge will have a challenge called "Collage Face" and there will be a vote for your favorite. (More information under Members Menu.)
EQ Design Challenge will have a challenge with a quilt made using the EQ Design software, including the original plan created in EQ. There will be a vote for your favorite. (More information under Members Menu.)
Wondrous Wearables will have a challenge displaying garments made from quilts or embellished with quilts and trims. There will be a vote for your favorite.
Foundation Fanatics will have a display of foundation pieced quilts.
Scrappy Scrappers will have a display of a quilt made from scraps.
Dear Jane will have a display of blocks made using the Dear Jane patterns

Quilt Judge and Appraiser
The judge for the 2025 Quilt Show is Cynthia Erickson from Omaha, NE. Cynthia is a Certified Quilt Judge through the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges. Cynthia teaches quilting and clothing specialty classes as well as lecturing and teaching classes around the country. She is qualified to judge Master Quilts, Modern and art quilts of all techniques. “Professional Quilter Magazine” nominated her for National Teacher of the Year in 2009. She has been published in Quiltmaker, Fons and Porters magazine and Leisure Arts publications. Cindy designed some books and patterns with Jo Morton. One of the patterns was on the cover of Keepsake Quilting catalog. Cindy’s quilts have been shown in AQS, Houston, PIQS and NQA.

The quilt appraiser is Deb Kipp from Gillette, WY. She will be available to do professional appraisals on Friday and Saturday during the show. The cost is $25 for a verbal appraisal and $45 for a written appraisal. You will pay the appraiser directly. If you want to schedule an appraisal, please check the box on the registration form.  If your quilt will not be in the show, Contact Us to make an appointment and you will be contacted to schedule.

Raffle Quilts and Raffle Baskets
Our raffle quilt this year is a beautiful red and white pieced quilt. Tickets will be $2 each or 6 for $10.  

We will have multiple Raffle Baskets filled with quilt fabric, patterns, notions and supplies, plus a few surprises.  Tickets will be $1 each or 6 for $5.

Silent Auction for Monument Health Hospice House
The Black Hills Quilters Guild sponsors a Silent Auction of Small Quilted Objects and other items with proceeds going to Monument Health Hospice House. In 2024, $2,647 was donated; since 2005, the BHQG has raised $46,000 for the Hospice House. The silent auction will close about 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 7.

Inspiration Studio
The Inspiration Studio will offer demos during the Quilt Show. They also provide information about upcoming learning events, such as the Quilting in the Hills Retreat offered by the Black Hills Quilters Guild in the fall. The Inspiration Studio will display Block-of-the-Month (BOM) quilts and Round Robin quilts.

The Black Hills Quilters Guild In Action
We are proud that the Black Hills Quilters Guild is  active in our community with donations of quilts and other items to various local organizations. This room is the place to learn more about our guild and our community outreach program.

Project Warmth will offer a variety of quilted items for sale. The proceeds of these sales help purchase batting, fabric, and quilting services for the quilts that are donated to a variety of local charities.
Open Sew will offer people a chance to sit and sew for a few minutes or a few hours and learn the basics of quilting.
Caring Heart Quilts are given to our quilt Guild sisters who have experienced a serious health concern or lost a spouse or child. Small Thinking of You (TOY) blocks are sent to our quilt guild sisters when they are sick or have suffered a loss or sometimes just to say Thank You. Examples of both of these types of quilts will be displayed.
Boots for Troops are Christmas Stockings that are filled with snacks and small gifts and sent to our deployed Troops during the holidays. Examples of these stockings will be displayed.
Veteran Quilts are made by members of the Guild and given to residents at Fort Meade. They usually have a patriotic theme.
USS SD Submarine Quilts, while not a project of the BHQG, many of our members make quilts for a project which sends quilts to Navy personnel deployed on the USS SD Submarine.
Infant Bereavement Program provides swaddling blankets and quilts to parents who have lost an infant. Members of the Guild provide these items through a program at Monument Health.
Pet Beds are made with scraps of fabric and batting that are leftover from making quilts These are donated to the local Humane Society. This keeps these materials out of landfill and provides a soft place to sleep for the animals at the shelter.
Quilters Rest is a place to sit and rest for a few minutes or a few hours while waiting for your spouse or friends to finish looking at quilts and shop at the vendors.
A Celebration of Quilting
This event celebrates the completion of our quilt show and the quilters who work hard to make it a success.  This event will be held on Monday, June 16, at Faith Lutheran Church.

The theme of this years celebration is "An Evening Tea." The doors will open at 5:00 pm with food being served about 5:30.  There is no charge for members but some will be contributing potluck dishes. Tea will be provided by Honeybee Quilts.  There will be a prize for the best decorated table.

There will be a slideshow from the 2025 quilt show, a drawing for registration incentive prizes, and UFO prizes will be awarded.  There will be a short business meeting to elect officers for July 2025-June 2024. The evening's entertainment will be a trunk show by our retiring president, Reta Welsh.

Admission is $8 per person per day or $15 for a 3-day pass.
