Experience Art at Michener Building

Join any of these guided offerings, created by our Education team to enhance your museum experience.

10:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. - Look & Listen Storytime: Our most popular program for young visitors! Read along to picture books paired with works of art. Inspiring curiosity in ages 4-8 years old.

1:30 p.m. - Looking Together: Ever wondered how others interpret an artwork? Let's explore some of the visitor-favorites in our collection together! We'll use creative ways of looking to make connections and meaning. Recommended for all visitors 12 years & older.

Additional Activities

11:30am-2:30pm Creative Cardmaking - We'll provide the materials, you provide the creativity! Scribe your heartfelt messages for Mom and produce a meaningful keepsake.

3pm-5pm Massage Therapy (for purchase) - Schedule a massage session with a professional chair massage therapist. Book a 10- or 20-minute massage here.

11am-2pm Yoga with Crux - Crux Yoga instructors will facilitate three yoga session, open to all ages. Bring your own mat and sign up for a session here. (Mats can be stored in our free lockers.)

12pm-5pm Flowers for Mom - Attendees get a free carnation to take home (while supplies last).

Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings, Sarah Bane, discusses Cornelis Visscher's The Rat Catcher and the Visscher brothers' thriving artistic practice.

3pm - Art with an Expert - Sex, Death, and Posada's Penny Press: A Skeletal Modernity at Capitol Room, Check-in Building
Guest Speaker and Professor of History at Elon University, Dr. Michael Matthews, discusses the artist José Guadalupe Posada and his role in the Mexican Penny Press at the turn of the century.

2pm & 4pm: Live Music by Annabelle Chairlegs at Moody Patio
Enjoy a live performance by Austin rock band Annabelle Chairlegs.
