Everyone who has visited the Museum has probably heard of Mary Mattair, one of the earliest permanent settlers in Old Town. But who was she? There is far more we don’t know about her than what we do. Her daughter, Maria, is much better documented, and her family line is among the most prominent in the early history of the Island.
For the February Brown Bag Lunch, docent Susan Martin will uncover some of the secrets of Mary Mattair’s past, if they can be found, and provide more insight into how the Mattair family fit into early Fernandina.
Cost: Free, and attendees may bring their lunch!
Seating is limited on a first-come, first-served basis. This program is wheelchair accessible.
