Embrace the spirit of winter at “Dog Days of Winter,” at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. This free family-friendly event is open to all ages. Dogsledder Jasmyn Hatlestad will share her journey into the world of dogsledding in a captivating presentation in the Russell Reid Auditorium.
Growing up in Roseau, Minnesota, Hatlestad’s passion for animals led her to convince her parents to get her first husky - sparking a lifelong love for the sport. While teaching herself how to race with the support of family and friends, she developed a deep bond with her dogs. Now a law enforcement officer, she continues to run her huskies for fun.
Hatlestad will discuss how she got started, the training process, essential gear, race types, and favorite memories - complete with photos. Weather permitting, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with sled dogs after the presentation.
