HEAD FOR THE HILLS! includes many recent acquisitions and demonstrates the Hammer’s commitment to collecting diverse work by both local and international artists in a broad range of mediums. Borrowing its title from a 1974 work by the artist John Knight-a slideshow of advertising texts extracted from the real estate supplement in the Los Angeles Times-this exhibition highlights artworks that use the local, personal, and banal to tap into the universal.
