Featuring the works of Corrita Myers
In a world saturated with noise and distractions, Corrita’s work explores the profound beauty of absence through negative space painting. Using acrylics as her medium, she aims to reveal the quiet stories that emerge when forms are defined not by what is present, but by what is left behind.
Negative space, to her, is more than a compositional tool-it is a metaphor for the unseen, the unspoken, and the overlooked. By stripping away unnecessary details and focusing on the voids, she invites viewers to reconsider how we define presence and importance. What is omitted becomes as significant as what is expressed, creating a dialogue between the tangible and the intangible. Stop in and take a moment to relax and share this journey of discovery.
Also, this month our guest artist is James B. Anderson, Ph.D. (“The Ol’ Illustrator”). As a West Coast teen, Jay was attracted early-on to the artistry behind the work of Mort Drucker, Rick Griffin, and other underground cartoonists. He recognized their contribution to figure drawing, character development, and social commentary. In recent years, Jay has written a handful of books, with an eye toward developing his burgeoning Cast o’ Characters. Now numbering in the hundreds, these characters display a multitude of human behaviors.
Consequently, his collective body of work (both non-fiction and fictional) delves into issues of social and ethical justice, all under the thin veil of one, ol’ illustrator’s guarded optimism.
Mingle with the artists and enjoy both art and light refreshments. Bring your friends and family.
