The Whistler House Museum of Art (WHMA) is proud to be exhibiting a selection of artworks from its extensive permanent collection: Out of the Vault 2025.

We welcome visitors to experience the exhibition's beautiful seascapes, rural landscapes, and ethereal portraits which perfectly capture the essence of WHMA’s permanent collection of fine art from all over the world.

These fine works of art, many of which are antiques, mirror the incredible elegance of the paintings exhibited in the historic house. They feature similar New England scenes and elegant figures. The exhibition includes artists Elizabeth Morse Walsh, Aldro Thompson Hibbard, William Preston Phelps, Mary Earl Wood, William Paxton, Arthur Spear, Emile Gruppe, DeMerritte Allen Hiscoe, Thomas Bayley Lawson, and many more.

Each artwork tells a story, not just of its own creation, but of the journey it has taken to become part of the Whistler House legacy. With many works exhibited for the first time, these paintings offer a wider glimpse into the WHMA's permanent collection and the stunning art in its vault, now brought out into the light of day.

"We are so excited to offer a glimpse of the fine works of art collected by the Whistler House Museum of Art over the past 147 years", says Sara Bogosian, President and Executive Director. "From fine well-known artists throughout New England, visitors will experience beautiful works of art from some of the leading artistic talents in the region and the world."
