Stephen Morrison -- Dog Show #4: House Broken

For Dog show #4: house broken, Morrison explores the chaotic messiness of home life drawing from the artist’s upbringing in a lively dysfunctional household. The main gallery space features seven trompe l’oeil paintings that transform chaotic domestic scenes into objects of reverence through dog characters that are stressed broken or precariously balanced. Accompanying sculptures called "clump spirits," represent glued-together masses of disorder. a second space is occupied by a team of miniature construction workers—self-portraits—struggling to build a room humorously critiquing the artist’s own failures in domestic care. The show celebrates imperfection and production without resolution finding beauty in the flaws and disorder of everyday life.
