Casita Maria presents You CAN Sit Here, a multimedia solo exhibition by Bronx native Tiffany ‘Tiff McFierce’ McPherson. The exhibition will be on view from Thursday, March 20 - Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the Casita Maria Gallery, located at 928 Simpson Street, 6th Floor, Bronx, NY 10459.

Inspired by Tiff’s childhood living room—a space to be seen but not sat in—the exhibition transforms a symbol of pride and restriction into a shared space for gathering, introspection, and creativity. As a first-generation Jamaican American, Tiff’s experience mirrors those of many Black, Caribbean, and multicultural households. In the gallery, this space is reimagined as a place for “connection and solitude, nostalgia and newness.”

Free opening and closing celebrations will take place on Thursday, March 20, from 5:30–8:00 PM, and Saturday, August 16, from 2:00–5:00 PM. Guests are invited to meet the artist, engage with her work, and enjoy refreshments, with music provided by Tiff herself, a global DJ sensation and music director.

Over the course of a year and a half, Tiff has curated a blend of personal and cultural elements, pairing video and soundworks with furniture and nostalgic objects to create an interactive installation. By reclaiming a space once defined by restrictions, she encourages viewers to consider how inherited structures shape their lives and invites them to imagine new ways of thinking, being, and connecting.

Tiff McFierce emphasizes that this experience is an intergenerational conversation starter, offering audiences of all ages an opportunity to reflect on what they learn and how they carry their histories forward. Her installation highlights the power of communal care and intentionality, fostering exploration and connection across generations.

Casita Maria is a safe space that incorporates expressive arts into our Art Studios curriculum during after-school program hours. This exhibition is particularly important for the young artists of Casita Maria as it provides an opportunity for them to see galleries as creative, welcoming spaces to explore ideas in three dimensions and how to use the creative process as a tool for healing and wellness.
