This tour includes access to Fort (Battery) Pringle, one of four earthen Confederate fortifications on the Dill Sanctuary that were part of the Civil War defenses of Charleston.
It is suggested participants bring their own binoculars and water. Limited extra binoculars will be available to borrow and are not guaranteed. Participants are encouraged to report their bird findings to the Merlin or eBird apps. Please note, this walking tour will be approximately 1.5 miles in total and is an “off-road” location with unprepared terrain. Closed toed shoes are required and walking shoes/boots are strongly recommended.
The Great Backyard Bird Count is a global movement that takes place one weekend in February encouraging people to spend time indoors or outdoors watching birds and reporting their sightings. The GBBC not only encourages bird lovers to come together but also helps scientists better understand and protect birds around the world.
